What Kind of Window Am I Looking For?

Well, ideally, you’ll want a large window, so that the light it produces is soft and even. But, also, if you have a choice, look for a window that is a bit higher than your subject. You want the light to come from the top and side, but not up too high or you’ll start getting weird shadows under the eyes and nose. Also, if you have a choice between squeaky clean windows or dirty ones that need cleaning, take the dirty windows every time (they give you softer, more diffused light). I have a friend that has windows that he intentionally hasn’t cleaned in like 11 years because the light from them is so awesome.
