Don’t Center Your Subject in the Frame

image

As a general rule, we don’t want to put our subject in the dead center of the frame. That’s what we tell our kids to do when we hand them a camera: “Look through the viewfinder and put mommy in the center.” It’s a direction we’d give a child because it’s a simple one a child can follow, but it doesn’t make a very dynamic photo. When you put your subject to one side or the other, it makes the image more interesting, more professional, and it’s just a more dynamic composition.
