Podcast Producer can also start workflows that capture content from other cameras. These cameras are bound to Podcast Producer and then activated when running Podcast Capture and selecting the bound camera as the input source. This is popular in lecture captures, recording games, and even at my house, trying to steal food (yay for motion sensors). The first step is binding a camera.

To bind a camera to Podcast Producer, open Podcast Capture from the computer from which the camera is to be bound. Click on the Podcast Capture menu at the top of the screen and then click on Preferences to bring up the Podcast Capture preferences screen. Here, click on Audio/Video and you should see the Video Source, Microphone and Quality. Select the video source (in such situations they are normally external cameras), the appropriate microphone, and then choose Best from the Quality drop-down menu (the files are not that much larger than they would otherwise be and they look way better). Once the appropriate camera is selected, click on Start Sharing….

When prompted, provide the address and credentials to use in binding the camera. Then, the camera will be listed in Server Admin under Cameras where you limited access to Workflows. Access to cameras can be limited in the same fashion. When starting a Video capture on another computer, you will then have a list of cameras available within the screen. Selecting the bound camera shows the video streaming from that camera.
