vRealize Operations Manager (vROPS) is a phenomenal tool for performance monitoring, among various other capabilities that it has. The Predictive DRS feature taps into the intelligence of vROPS to smartly place the workloads proactively. This is done by retrieving key metrics of a workload and deducing a time-bound pattern. The pattern is then used to understand the upcoming resource requirements of the workload and moves them accordingly.

The data supplied by vROPS is ingested ahead of time and DRS balances the cluster forecasting the change in the resource requirement.
