Appendix D. Writing WML in Popular Development Tools

IN THIS APPENDIX

WML pages are plain-text files, just like HTML files (as well as ASP, JSP, CFM, and Perl files). As such, any text editor can be used to write WML code, and for many developers Windows Notepad remains the editor of choice, and BBEdit is very popular in the Mac world.

The truth is, when it comes to WML editors, there are not many choices available to us developers. This will likely change in the next year or two, and in the meantime, here is a list of popular WML development environments available right now.

Tip

For your convenience, all the editors and utilities covered in this appendix can be found on the accompanying CD-ROM.
