Kazuko Tsuji was born in
Nishinomiya, in Hyogo
Prefecture, and studied
design and illustration
at Kyoto Saga University
of Arts. Her work as an
illustrator was strongly
influenced by
kabuki
, a
traditional Japanese drama
school that is known for its
stylized dramas and the
actors’ heavy use of garish
make-up. Her illustrations
are published regularly in
Japanese newspapers in a
serialized format. Kazuko has
also published two books on
kabuki
, as well as a number of
travel books.
