Dear Gerhardt:

You were scheduled to work this Saturday, September 27, at 3:30 P.M. When you did not appear at work, your supervisor, Ralph Jones, called you at 4:00 to find out if you were planning on reporting to work that day. You told your supervisor that you wouldn’t be able to get to work until 5:00, one hour later, because you had personal business that needed your immediate attention.

However, at 5:00, you neither called nor showed up to the office. Today, Sunday, September 28, you neither called in nor showed up to work for your regularly scheduled shift. You are scheduled to report to work tomorrow, Monday, September 29, at 3:30 P.M. If you do not call or report to the office for work at the time of your regular shift starting time (3:30), you will have violated company policy regarding job abandonment.

Policy 2.21 on seniority states:

Since it has now been two consecutive workdays since you have reported to work or contacted your supervisor, if you fail to report to work tomorrow, you will be dismissed effective tomorrow. I have left a message on your home telephone answering machine with this information at (615) 555-5555. In addition, this letter is being sent to you via express overnight delivery to your last known address.

If there are any extenuating circumstances that we should consider, please contact your supervisor immediately. Otherwise, we will process your termination effective tomorrow, September 29, 2017.
