Creating a basic service profile

This is the most basic and rarely used option for creating a service profile using the burned-in physical identities. A service profile configuration is completed on a single page wizard providing a basic server configuration. This option can be used to configure a server quickly without applying many advanced policies. For production environments, this option is seldom applicable for server configurations.

Perform the following steps to configure the service profile using this method:

  1. Log in to UCS Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Servers tab in the navigation pane.
  3. Click to expand the Service Profiles tab and expand root.
  4. Right-click on root and on the pop-up menu that appears, click on Create Service Profile:
  1. In the pop-up screen, provide a Name and a short Description to the service profile.
  2. Create two Ethernet vNICs, two storage vHBAs, select a boot order, and provide a service profile association on the next page.
  1. Click on OK, which completes the service configuration as shown in the screenshot:
