UCS Director is multi-tenant and multi-vendor cloud platform solution that can deliver on-demand IT services through a self-service catalog to end users. It provides end-to-end provisioning, monitoring, and management of the infrastructure in a secure multi-tenant fashion. It is a centralized unified management and orchestrator solution for Cisco data center products that can connect with physical and virtual infrastructure domain managers and rapidly provision resources available through the service catalog. It can discover, control, and exchange resource information with other compute, network storage, and virtual elements in the data center. It can collect inventory of all the components and provides various reporting across them.

UCS Director plays a central role in interfacing with admin, tenants, end users, physical and virtual domain managers, third-party management tools, public clouds, and system integrators. Admin can log in to the admin portal to add all the infrastructure components, develop workflows, create policies, publish service catalogs, generate various reports, and so on, where end users can submit the request for provisioning applications, servers, and resources available through the self-service catalog.

UCS Director can authenticate through local, LDAP, and single sign-on (SSO) and provides RBAC for authorization of services.

UCS Director is a virtual appliance model that can be downloaded from Cisco CCO portal. It is available in OVA and ISO image format and supports all major hypervisors, such as VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, RedHat KVM, and the OpenStack cloud platform.
