Common error messages with Fabric Interconnects

Issue Recommended solution

Management entity degraded

Management entity down

  • Verify that both L1 and L2 links have proper connectivity between the Fabric Interconnects
  • If the preceding action did not resolve the issue, generate a tech-support file and contact Cisco TAC

Management entity election failure

  • Verify that the initial setup configuration is correct on both the Fabric Interconnects and the L1/L2 links are properly connected
  • Convert SSH to CLI and run the cluster force primary command in the local-mgmt command on one Fabric Interconnect
  • Reboot the Fabric Interconnects
  • If the preceding actions did not resolve the issue, generate a tech-support file and contact Cisco TAC

HA not ready

  • Verify that the initial setup configuration is correct on both the Fabric Interconnects and the L1/L2 links are properly connected
  • Verify IOM connectivity
  • If the preceding actions did not resolve the issue, generate a tech-support file and contact Cisco TAC

Version incompatible

  • Upgrade the Cisco UCS Manager software on the subordinate Fabric Interconnect to the same release as the primary Fabric Interconnect
  • If the preceding action did not resolve the issue, generate a tech-support file and contact Cisco TAC

Equipment inoperable

  • Reseat the failed equipment, such as fans, power-supply, or SFP
