This is the most basic and rarely used option for creating a service profile using the burned-in physical identities. A service profile configuration is completed on a single page wizard providing a basic server configuration. This option can be used to configure a server quickly without applying many advanced policies. For production environments, this option is seldom applicable for server configurations.
Perform the following steps to configure the service profile using this method:
- Log in to UCS Manager.
- Click to expand the Servers tab in the navigation pane.
- Click to expand the Service Profiles tab and expand root.
- Right-click on root and on the pop-up menu that appears, click on Create Service Profile:
- In the pop-up screen, provide a Name and a short Description to the service profile.
- Create two Ethernet vNICs, two storage vHBAs, select a boot order, and provide a service profile association on the next page.
- Click on OK, which completes the service configuration as shown in the screenshot:
