Configuring the Host Firmware policy

Host Firmware Packages is used to upgrade the firmware version of all UCS components. It is one single policy that can be assigned to the service profile or the service profile template to upgrade all the components at the same level. While upgrading or downgrading UCS firmware, it is always recommended to follow the latest UCS Firmware management guide.

Perform the following steps to configure the Host Firmware Package:

  1. Log in to UCS Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Servers tab in the navigation pane.
  3. Click on the Policies tab and expand the root tab.
  4.  Right-click on Host Firmware Packages and on the pop-up menu that appears, click on Create Host Firmware Package:

  1. Assign a Name and a short Description to the host firmware package, and select the Simple or Advanced config option. Simple configuration will allow selection of the package level at blade, rack, and M-Series and then automatically upgrade all the components where advanced configuration will provide more flexibility to select the package level for each component in the UCS:
