UCS Director is based on Cent OS based virtual appliance and hosts most of the services including MySQL database for storing all the configuration details; however, you can still use an external database. It includes the following services:

• Apache Tomcat
• Secure domain controller
• Identity and access manager
• Infra manager
• Event manager
• MySQL database

Users can interact with UCS Director through a web-based interface, shell admin (CLI), and REST API. It includes the software development kit (SDK) that provides the REST-based API library for integration with other components. It provides both northbound APIs for interacting with UCS Director and southbound for development of other infrastructure components and complex scripting workflows.
