In this chapter, we created the basics of our project by having a look at the side technologies that we might know, in order to build good applications while being more productive and fast.

We've had a look at a seam-gen generated project and its included support for Ajax and rich components (with RichFaces). Also, we looked at templating (with Facelets) and JBoss Seam authentication. We've also started doing a little customization of the entities (by adding the Hibernate Validator annotations) and the XHTML code.

In the next chapter, we'll go deeper into developing the application using RichFaces components.
