Eliminated state

The following steps demonstrate the eliminated state:

  1. Type dfsrmig /setglobalstate 3 and press the Enter key:

If you need to revert back to FRS, you need to do so before this state. When it eliminates the state, it will not be possible to go back.

  1. Type dfsrmig /getmigrationstate to confirm all the domain controllers have reached the Eliminated state:

By this stage, it is successfully migrating from FRS to DFSR. To verify this, we can run net share. It will list down the shares, and we should be able to see the SYSVOL_DFSR share.

Once all is confirmed, we need to stop the FRS service and disable it:

Once DFSR is enabled, related firewall ports also need to open for successful DFS replication. TCP 137, 139, 389, 135, and 445 and UDP ports 137, 138, 389, and 445 need to be allowed. In some occasions, antivirus software will also block DFS traffic. Therefore, make sure the traffic is not interrupted.
