Squash commit

Using squash commit can help you to keep the branch clean and simple. When you want to merge one branch to another, by using squash commit, you can join the commits in the branch into new one commit, with a new commit message, and connect this new commit to the target branch. The following diagram shows this:

There will be no real merge between the branches. You just throw away the old branch because all changes are now committed to the target. You will lose detail but gain simplicity. It depends on what your priority is.
