Using this recipe, you can design a reading comprehension activity about different types of sentences. We will link to a website of the different types of sentences, especially detailed sentences. The website is interesting as well as appealing because of the images. Students should read this article, which gives them tips on how to write detailed sentences. After going through this article, they are to write detailed sentences about a topic. You can choose another website. Let's Moodle it!
As mentioned previously, I have selected a website for students to read an article about types of sentences. We are going to ask our students to carry out this activity by uploading a file. The reason is very simple: they may also add images easily by using any word processor.
We are going to select the Weekly outline section where we want to add the activity. Then we are going to follow these steps:
- Select Add an activity, and within Assignments, select Upload a single file.
- Complete the Assignment name block.
- Complete the Description block in which you are going to create the link to the website, as shown in the following screenshot:
- Complete the Insert Link block, and in Target, choose New window.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Save and return to course.
Students are going to click on the activity and they are going to read the article about detailed sentences. This article also gives them tips on how to write. It will be very easy for them to do the homework. They may also add pictures to the sentences, (as some students add stickers to the pages).
