3.5. Summary

InfoPath is a powerful tool. But it is only as powerful as the information you can use with it. In the chapter, you saw how databases are used in real life every day and how those databases can be visualized using the computer.

There are a number of database models that can be used, but one in particular is very popular: the relational database model. There are a number steps needed to come up with good relational model for your database, but when set up correctly, it can be very intuitive to retrieve and update data.

There are two database solutions that Microsoft offers: Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server. Both connect directly to InfoPath and are relational, but they are made for different scenarios. Two other alternatives for using data with InfoPath are XML documents and Web services.
