Most of the production applications depend upon third-party libraries to enable some sets of functions. Keeping these libraries outdated can save you upon the few extra kilobytes of update or maintaining your software so that it continues to work with the updated libraries. However, this can also lead your application to have unfixed security vulnerabilities that may be exploited by an attacker later to gain illegal access to your application and the data that is being managed by the application.
