Scaling out is a credible solution for applications that have usage peaks from time to time. By scaling out, you can increase the number of instances (VMs) in which the App Service are running instead of increasing the hardware resources of it. You can also enable auto scale. By doing this, when a specific threshold is triggered, the App Service plan will be scaled out to handle the load.

There are two ways to scale out your App Service plan, and we will discuss these options in the upcoming sections.
