Clearing the Stage Area

The first of Scratch’s pen code blocks, shown in Figure 12.1, is designed to let you clear out any drawing operations that you may have made on the stage.

Anything you draw or stamp on the stage’s current costume does not actually change the costume. Therefore, when you clear out any drawing, the costume that makes up the background remains unchanged. The following script demonstrates how easy it is to use this code block:

By adding a script like this to a Scratch application, you can reset the stage back to its original state (erasing any drawing made to the stage).
