Legal Updates App

The Legal Updates app from JD Supra is useful to attorneys as well as to people who don’t work directly in the legal field. When you add this app to your LinkedIn account, you get legal alerts from lawyers on LinkedIn.

JD Supra is a website where attorneys create profiles and upload legal articles. The site is referred to as a community-based research tool. Anyone can use the site to search for legal information submitted by legal professionals. Attorneys can boost their exposure and build their businesses by submitting useful articles that help establish their credibility and reputations.

To add the Legal Updates app to your LinkedIn account, choose the Get More Applications link from the More drop-down menu when you’re logged in to your LinkedIn account. From the Legal Updates app page shown in Figure 13.16, click the Add Application button.

The Legal Updates app is a great tool for researching current legal trends, cases, and issues because the content is written by real attorneys. You can search for legal news and information related to your industry without leaving LinkedIn. The app enables you to customize the legal updates that appear on your LinkedIn Home page; you can follow specific subjects such as business, employment, energy, tax, insurance, and more. You can also share the content you read with your own network and reach out to the lawyers who write the content you read via LinkedIn to learn more.
