If you are extremely serious about using LinkedIn to find a job, then you might want to consider paying for a Job Seeker Premium account. You can upgrade your account at any time. Just click the Upgrade My Account link from the LinkedIn footer when you’re logged in to your account. The Subscription Plans page opens. From there you can scroll to the Looking for a Job? box in the bottom right of the page and click the View Plans link to see current prices and features of Job Seeker Premium paid plans.
All upgraded LinkedIn plans are discussed in detail in Chapter 16, including Job Seeker Premium plans. There are three Job Seeker plan levels with different price tags: Job Seeker Basic, Job Seeker, and Job Seeker Plus.
With your free LinkedIn account, you can only get introduced to 5 companies that you’re targeting in your job search per month. You also cannot access salary information, move to the top of the applicant list as a Featured Applicant, see who has viewed your profile, or let recruiters message you for free with OpenLink (discussed in Chapter 16). An upgraded Job Seeker Premium account lets you do all of those things and more.
