How to do it...

Take the following steps to enable post creation from the frontend of the site:

  1. Log in to the Dashboard as an administrator.
  2. Click the Pages menu from the left-hand section.
  3. Click the Add New button to create a page.
  4. Add a title for the page and use the following set of shortcodes as the content. Make sure to use the Shortcode block of the Gutenberg editor to add these shortcodes using two shortcode blocks:
[usp_visitor][usp-login-form][/usp_visitor]

[usp_member][user-submitted-posts][/usp_member]
  1. Click the Publish button to create the page.

Now, you can click the View Page link to see the page on the frontend with the custom form for creating posts.

Take the following steps to create a post using the frontend post-creation form:

  1. Log out as Administrator.
  2. Visit the page created in the previous section to see the login form, as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. Log in as a non-admin user.
  2. Add sample values for Post Title, Post Tags, Post Category, and Post Content in the custom form, as shown in the following screenshot:

This plugin only enables the Uncategorized option for the Post Category field. You can go to the Settings | User Submitted Posts menu and use the Categories section to enable the necessary categories for frontend post publishing.
  1. Click the Submit Post button.

The post will be created and you will get a message as Success! Thank you for your submission. Now, you can take the following steps to verify and approve the post to be published on the site:

  1. Log out as a non-admin user.
  2. Log in as Administrator.
  3. Click the Posts menu to see the post created in the previous section.
  4. Click the Edit link to view the post content in the Edit screen.
  5. Make the necessary edits and click the Publish button to publish the post.
The plugin has a limitation whereby the post is assigned to the admin user instead of the user who created it. The details of the user who submitted the post are displayed under the content editor. However, these don't relate to the actual WordPress user. 

Now, the process of frontend post publishing will be completed, and you will be able to see the post on the site.
