Acknowledgements

I should like to express my thanks to the many sound recordists, mixers, supervisors and dubbing editors I've worked with over the years, would that I had room to list you all. However, I must give a special mention to my friends Colin Berwick, Colin Bowman and Peter Brand, who devoted much time and effort in patiently answering all my queries, as well as reading incomplete manuscripts. Other friends and colleagues who have, perhaps unwittingly, contributed to the information and techniques described herein, but with whom I've enjoyed the pleasure of working over the past few years, include Gavin Bateman, Dave Batt, Barry Cobden, Peter Coles, Tom Gilmore, Tony Glossop, Rob Kreeger, Rob Miles and Brian Roberts.

Regarding illustrative material contained within the book, I would like to thank Bill Curtis at Ravensbourne College for his assistance with much of the photography, together with all my ‘models’ – I'm sorry I'm unable to thank you all individually. I am also indebted to Ambient Recording GmbH for permission to reproduce the illustration of the Lockit Box and to the publishers for permission to reproduce several illustrations from both The Microphone Book and Multiskilling for Television Production.

Should you encounter any errors or mistakes from here on, they have nothing to do with any of the aforementioned and are completely my own.

Tony Grant
