How do I collect the data from system metrics?

You have two options for collecting system metrics:

  • You can use Azure Diagnostics
  • You can use PerfView

With Azure Diagnostics, you can collect diagnostic data for debugging and troubleshooting, measuring performance, monitoring resource usage, traffic analysis, capacity planning, and auditing.

With PerfView, you can collect and analyze performance data. PerfView enables you to perform investigations covering:

  • CPU utilization
  • Managed memory
  • Unmanaged memory
  • Timing and blockages
PerfView was originally designed to run locally, but you can use AzureRemotePerfView (a NuGet package) to install and run PerfView remotely. You can find PerfView here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28567. You can find AzureRemotePerfView here: https://www.nuget.org/packages/AzureRemotePerfView.
