Other factors

You now know the most important criteria for selecting a data solution. However, there are many other questions whose answers can be used to make a decision.

To give you an idea, I have some examples:

Example 1—data relationships:

Typical questions in this area are as follows:

  • Will your data need to support one-to-many or many-to-many relationships?
  • Are relationships themselves an important part of the data?
  • Will you need to join or otherwise combine data from within the same dataset, or from external datasets?

Example 2—availability:

Typical questions in this area are as follows:

  • Does your solution need to be hosted in certain Azure regions?
  • Is the service available in all Azure regions?

Example 3—hybrid scenarios and portability:

Typical questions in this area are:

  • Is there a need to migrate data from or to on-premises, external data centers, or other cloud-hosting environments?
