As we have already discussed the basics in Chapter 4, Networking Design and Management, let's get into detail. The OMS is a cloud-based solution that combines the management of your cloud environments, with the capabilities of the System Center (SC 2016).
It does not matter whether it is a private cloud, a public cloud, or a hybrid cloud, or whether it uses Microsoft Azure or a third-party cloud provider (for example, AWS or OpenStack). OMS also does not differentiate between Windows Server or Linux, or between virtualization based on Hyper-V or VMware.
The OMS is divided into the following areas:
- Insight and Analytics
- Automation and control
- Security and compliance
- Protection and recovery
Numerous individual tools and features are available for each of these areas. Because of the large number, I can't, unfortunately, go into it here. If you need further information, visit the Solution Gallery of your OMS Workspace.
Tip 2: Microsoft offers an integration add-in for your on-premises system center environment.
