Which capabilities can be seen here?

The Azure Monitor has the following capabilities:

  • Route: You have the opportunity to stream your monitoring data to other services or locations (for example, to Azure Event Hub or to Azure Application Insights). Among other things, this enables you to implement notification services for alarms or to process data in other environments.
  • Archive: Monitoring data in the Azure Monitor is stored and available for a specified period of time (metrics for 30 days, activity log entries for 90 days). In addition, you have the option to forward monitoring data to an Azure Storage account for longer-term archiving. This is, however, subject to a charge.
  • Query: You have the possibility to retrieve data for your own custom monitoring application or a third-party application using the Azure Monitor REST API, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell or Azure .NET SDK.
  • Visualize: By visualizing your monitoring data in graphs and charts, you can make trends faster than looking at the data yourself. Common tools for visualization include Azure Application Insights, Microsoft PowerBI, and numerous third-party tools.
  • Automate: You can use the monitoring data to trigger alerts, events, or even entire processes. The most popular example of this is Azure autoscaling.
