Networking

In this section, we will go through some settings that we can change to make it work and set this up in our local network. After that, the MusicBox player should be operating in your network and everything should be connected. Let's look at the following settings:

  • Network name: This name is actually the SSID or the name of your Wi-Fi network. It can be changed from your router interface by visiting the URL http://192.168.1.1 in most of the cases. If not, check your manual for the appropriate URL of your router.
  • Wi-Fi password: Obviously, this is the field where you have to place the Wi-Fi password of your network. Once more, the password can be changed by visiting the link that we visited earlier. For many reasons, it is important to always add a strong password that includes letters, capital letters, symbols, and numbers randomly.
  • Workgroup: This field is the workgroup name of your local Windows network. When connecting your Windows machine to a network, you are prompted to choose the group in which you will belong.
  • SSD: As we already know, ssh is always useful for many reasons so it is advised to turn this on for later modifications. On the other hand, if you want to just complete the projects and do not change anything in the Raspberry Pi Zero W board, you can always leave it as it is.
