Facebook messenger

Another option is to control your Raspberry Pi board using Facebook Messenger. Facebook allows you to connect your messenger chat platform with Raspberry and just type commands or anything you want and execute them on the Raspberry Pi board. In this section, we will mention the whole idea of the preceding scenario as an alternative option. The user communicates through the Facebook page made for the Raspberry Pi using the Facebook API with the actual Raspberry Pi board, which should be connected to the internet. As a result, we have two requirements for this project:

  • A Raspberry Pi board connected to the internet
  • A Dataplicity remote terminal with wormhole enabled

At first, you have to create a Facebook account and a Facebook page. Then, go to https://developers.facebook.com/, log in using the administrator account, and create an app. Then, you have to download the appropriate code to the Raspberry Pi board and connect it to the WebHook.

Since this project is not the main goal of the chapter, if you are interested in it, you can follow the instructions at https://www.hackster.io/dataplicity/use-facebook-to-control-your-raspberry-pi-terminal-2be038.
