GDB is a powerful tool with plenty of options, commands, and customization. One plugin that might help you in your GDB efforts, especially with making sure the display is clearly laid out and easy to read, is a Python plugin called PWNDBG. This plugin is touted as an exploit development and reverse engineering plugin, but on occasion, I find myself using it to spice up the GDB display.
