Summary

In this chapter, we began by learning what a process is, and what different states and types of processes are in a Linux system. Then, we looked at different methods that exist in CentOS 7 to view running processes. This was followed by understanding how processes communicate with each other and how we can communicate with processes using signals. Thereafter, we learned how to monitor running processes and how to manage their priority using nice values. Finally, we looked at how jobs (commands) are managed on the command line by launching some applications in the background and switching an application from the background to the foreground, and vice versa.

In the next chapter, we will learn about networking concepts and networking commands in CentOS 7. We will also learn how to perform secure remote logins and backups over a network.
