Firewall-config is a graphical tool that is used to modify and view the running (in-memory) configuration of firewalld, as well as permanent (on hard disk) configuration. This tool is a part of the firewall-config package. It is invoked from the command line by typing firewall-config.
The configuration files of firewalld are stored inside the /etc/firewalld/ directory. Firewalld supports two types of configurations:
- Runtime or in-memory configurations: The in-memory configurations of firewalld are lost on reloading firewalld or after rebooting of system.
- Permanent or on-disk configurations: This configuration remains after reboot and is applied on reloading firewalld.
