Using the firewalld-config graphical tool

Firewall-config is a graphical tool that is used to modify and view the running (in-memory) configuration of firewalld, as well as permanent (on hard disk) configuration. This tool is a part of the firewall-config package. It is invoked from the command line by typing firewall-config.

The configuration files of firewalld are stored inside the /etc/firewalld/ directory. Firewalld supports two types of configurations:

  • Runtime or in-memory configurations: The in-memory configurations of firewalld are lost on reloading firewalld or after rebooting of system.
  • Permanent or on-disk configurationsThis configuration remains after reboot and is applied on reloading firewalld.
