Irrespective of the underlying IP addressing scheme, while communicating, the information needs to travel from a host on one network to a host on another network. Each host can have multiple routing tables, which decide how to route the traffic to a particular network from the host. The routing table makes sure the correct network interface is used for sending the packets to a destination network. We can also define the IP address of any intermediate router that is required to reach the destination network in routing table.
