Creating VM directly on Azure

You can create a VM on Azure from the following:

  • The Azure portal
  • The Azure CLI
  • Docker, using Docker Machine

Once you have a VM ready on Azure, you can, for example, use Docker Machine to install and configure Docker Engine on a remote machine, and publish Docker images from the Dev machine to the VM on Azure.

Not the cool way to leverage containerized applications on Azure; it's limited, and there's not much to explore in the context of the simple yet complete microservice architecture example in this book. That's why we skipped it.
