Summary

This chapter explained performance testing in Test Studio. We saw how to configure the environment for performance testing. After having chosen the baseline tests, they were recorded using the web test template. Afterwards, with a few configuration amendments at the test level to identify the server and performance counters to be collected, the tests were executed against in the performance mode. Finally, the chapter ended by going through the different test result view modes. The overview mode offers a high-level summary of the performance metrics, where we can delve more into each step level by enabling the detail view mode. The compare view allows a close comparison of the different execution runs of a test whereas the history view allows a global view of all the execution instances of a test to enable a clear and quick analysis for the baseline test.

This chapter ends by demonstrating the performance metric gathering for executing a test in a simple mode. The next chapter revolves around load testing, where you can create more complex execution modes to simulate real-life loads on your web applications using the Test Studio load test template.
