Black-box testing

In the black-box vulnerability assessment approach, the VA tester carries out all the tests without having any prior knowledge of the target system. This type of test most closely simulates real-world attacks. In an ideal black-box test scenario, the VA tester would probably know only the name of the target organization. He would have to start gathering information about the target from scratch and then gradually build and execute various attack scenarios. This type of testing usually takes a longer time to complete and is more resource intensive.
