Part Four
People and Organizational Issues in Testing
This part of the book discusses two of the oft-ignored aspects of testing that turn out to be the biggest challenges in running testing projects. First, in Chapter 13, we address common people issues faced in testing teams. We discuss candidly some of the “heard in the street” perceptions on testing and see how they are not well founded. We address the question of career paths for people in testing profession and see what needs to be done by the rest of the eco-system to achieve these aspirations. This chapter is followed by Chapter 14, Organizational Structures for Testing Teams. Here, we see how to organize testing teams and distribute work among them to provide better accountability and effectiveness. In particular, we discuss the impact of globalization on team structures and work allocation.
