Rui Abreu is a Portuguese type designer. He studied

Veronika Burian was born in Prague
in . In , she moved to Munich,
where she studied industrial design
at the University of Applied Sciences.
Before completing her studies,
she worked as a product designer
at Gregerpauschitz in Vienna.
In , she joined the team of
Japanese designer Makio Hasuike in
Milan, where her interests shifted from
product design to graphic design and
typography. Her decision to focus
exclusively on type design developed
through her collaboration with Italian
design company Leftloft on the exhi-
bition italic . at the Association
Typographique Internationale () and
teaching at the Politecnico di Milano.
In , she completed her master of
arts in typeface design with distinction
at the University of Reading (),
United Kingdom, where she started
designing the typeface Maiola. In ,

Pilar Cano is a typeface designer from
Barcelona, which is also the place where
she earned her fi rst degree in graphic
design. During this period, she also
studied at Lahti Polytechnic (in Finland),
where she started to consider becoming a
type designer.
In , she graduated from the type-
face design master’s program at the
University of Reading () in the United
Kingdom. Since that time, she has worked
as a freelance graphic and type designer,
participated in several international
typographic exhibitions, and lectured
worldwide. Currently, Cano works at
Dalton Maag in London as a type designer.
