Show How You're a Match

The second main paragraph in your cover letter is where you show the reader what a great match you are for the position. Go through the job description and highlight the specific requirements they want. Then write about how you match the top three or four. You can even use bullets. For example, you might write:

  • Your job description asks for at least three years of product management experience, and I have five.
  • You require an M.B.A. in finance. I hold an M.B.A. in finance from [name of your university].
  • You need someone who is proficient in both Quicken and QuickBooks. I have taught courses in both programs at my local community college for the past four years.
