Create Layers

Have you ever looked at a painting and wondered how the artist created the textures or layers? Have you looked at a piece and been able to identify all the techniques the artist used? Usually the artwork that has the harder-to-identify layers is more intriguing than a less complex work. Combining techniques and layers creates mystery. You can challenge your viewers and keep them guessing by building multiple layers, adding isolation coats between layers, creating ghostly collages and glazing. Try these tricks to add depth and mystery to your work.
