Check It Out

Not sure about the color you are thinking of using? Not certain if the object you want to use is the right size, the right element or the right color? These tricks can help you find the answers.

TECHNIQUE ONE: View-master

Do you want to know if that mark or area of color would enhance your painting?

Step 1

Cover your art surface with clear plastic like Mylar or plastic wrap.

Step 2

Paint or put the marks you are considering on the plastic.

Step 3

Let dry.

Step 4

Don’t like it? No problem. Just peel off the plastic. But be sure to save the plastic—it can be used later in a Crazy Easy Transfer painting.

TECHNIQUE TWO: Print It

This is a great way to figure out if the element you want to glue down or transfer to your art is the right size or color.

Step 1

Print or copy the element in different sizes. Trim it and tape to your piece.

Step 2

You can move pieces around to see how their positioning affects the composition. Try different sizes. Experiment with different images and colors.

Step 3

Make sure you put the work up on the wall and look at it from a distance. Then look at it in a mirror to see if the composition is right.
