Multiply Me
Let’s play a game. If you see an individual person walking toward you, what do your think? If it was twins, would you feel different? What about triplets? Something about seeing multiples piques our interest. The repetition of form, whether realistic or abstract, creates a wonderful background upon which to build your art.
TECHNIQUE ONE: Repeat
Print out a series of images, making each one slightly different, and mix and match them. Or scan your drawing into a photo-editing program, multiply it, tweak positioning and play with color.

TECHNIQUE TWO: Size It
You can enlarge your work to give it more presence or simply multiply an image to use as a background. Scan an image from a photo and print it out multiple times. Glue your printouts down on your surface or make transfers.
This piece is the background used in Repetition, below.
