Preface

Microsoft Dynamics GP is an Enterprise Resource Planning system from Microsoft. It is used throughout the world by organizations in many different sectors due to its renowned strengths in financial management. These strengths extend beyond the standard finance modules of the General Ledger, Fixed Asset Management, and the Accounts Payables and Receivables to include a number of modules, which add additional finance management capabilities to the core system.

These modules include Analytical Accounting (which allows for analysis of transactions below the account level), Cash Flow Management, and budgeting, as well as methods of controlling spending through purchase commitments or encumbering. This book introduces these modules and shows you how they can be used to improve financial management and reporting.
