Introducing PerformancePoint Services

PerformancePoint Services makes the lives of business users easier by allowing them to easily create and publish Business Intelligence dashboards in SharePoint 2010. Using PerformancePoint Services Dashboard Designer, you can build dashboards, scorecards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) and publish them to SharePoint with ease. The Dashboard Designer can be launched directly from the web browser and has been designed especially for business users and information workers so that they can work on it directly without the need of involving an IT guy.

Did You Know?

Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 was earlier available as a standalone product, that is, prior to integration with SharePoint Server 2010. The product was discontinued in 2009; however, most features of the product have been preserved apart from various enhancements in the current version of PerformancePoint Services, which are now available as a part of the SharePoint Server Enterprise license.

PerformancePoint Services objects are stored in SharePoint lists and libraries and not in a separate database, as was the case with earlier versions of the product. The integration ensures that the PerformancePoint Services can utilize SharePoint features such as scalability, collaboration, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities.
