Controlling Your Workspace Environment

In the preceding chapters, we concentrated on a lot of different tasks related to the creation and modification of spreadsheets. This exploration took place with both StarOffice and Calc running in the default modes, meaning that you used the default toolbars, the default menu selections, and when you saved a file, it went to a default directory.

In this chapter, we are going to take a look at the different ways that you can customize the Calc workspace. We will look at different Calc options and customize toolbars.

We will also take a look at how you can configure General options that affect not just the Calc workspace, but all the StarOffice applications. Finally, we will take a look at how you can customize the Calc menu system, including the creation of new menus on the menu bar. We will also explore how you can modify the various default toolbars and create new, custom toolbars. First, let's explore some of the General options.
