The growth mindset

Carol Dweck, author of the book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success and a researcher from Stanford University, has devoted her time to researching why some people seem to thrive when solving complex problems.

She discovered that people with a growth mindset "believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work; brains and talent are just a starting point."

When we develop a growth mindset, instead of trying to control our environment to suit our abilities, we're more likely to explore it and try to overcome the challenges it presents.

In the following section, we'll take a look at the key differences between a growth mindset and fixed mindset. We'll also take a look at how to cultivate a growth mindset in our team.
