Alternative ideas for the game

Here are some alternative thoughts that may drive the game in another direction:

  • The setting can be changed, for instance, to a fantasy one. In this case, the protagonist can be used as a dragon (or have wings, himself being some sort of Icarus) to fly among the clouds where obstacles and enemies can be hidden.
  • Instead of space, the deep ocean can be used. The main character can use a diving dress. Shaders can be utilized to create interesting underwater effects.
  • A racing mode can be introduced: a circuit in space, few opponents, and some unexpected obstacles on the track.
  • Another possible mode can be called maintenance. The protagonist has to repair several modules on a ship deck (the player should hold a special button for a few seconds) while it is assaulted by the pirates. Enemies attack both the main character and the ship's modules. The objective is to maintain as many modules as possible for a fixed period of time (30 seconds, 45 seconds, 60 seconds, and so on). Special friendly turrets can be used as well.
  • There can be an alternative and gloomy end to the game. In green containers, the protagonist finds messages from an astronaut lost in space many decades ago. After the last lighthouse, the protagonist will not find his ship but only a new green container. At that moment, he will understand that all these strange messages in containers full of requests for help were written by him. He was in a time loop.
