Most SOHO networks incorporate some form of wireless access. One of the ways of accomplishing this with pfSense is to use a separate wireless access point and connect it to one of the interfaces on your pfSense firewall/router. If you find it preferable to use pfSense as a wireless access point, however, you can, provided that you add a compatible wireless card to your pfSense system, ensure that pfSense has detected the card, and follow the preceding recipe. If you are using a thin client as your pfSense system, then in all likelihood, using a separate wireless access point is the better option, as you are likely to be hindered by the lack of spare expansion slots on the thin client (although using a USB wireless adaptor is also an option). If you are using a desktop or laptop system to host pfSense, however, you may find it easier to add a wireless card to your configuration and use pfSense as an access point.
